Furness Music Centre Tour 2018 to Stirling
Saturday 21 July 2018 to Wednesday 25 July 2018
More than 50 members and their family joined 2018 Tour to Stirling. We had a Chamber Orchestra of 22 with two excellent guest players, one cellist and one double bassist, adding a wonderful depth to the sound. Using the chalet accommodation at Stirling University proved to be very sociable and chalet no. 9 certainly enjoyed extensive breakfasts!
The food provided by Stirling University was very good and they catered for those members with specific dietary requirements very well. Several members made use of the olympic-sized 50m pool and some others joined Alan Taylor for tai chi before breakfast
All of the performance venues were very welcoming and we enjoyed particularly good acoustics in the City Arts Centre in Edinburgh and the Holy Rude Church in Stirling. Our outdoor performances were not disturbed by rain, even though the choir had rehearsed Singing in the Rain and also practiced their umbrellas choreography! The performance highlight was certainly the concert in the Holy Rude Church in Stirling where we provided 90 minutes of music to a small but very appreciative audience, raising over £100 for the organ restoration fund
You can listen to the recordings made from the concert in the Holy Rude Church here
